Professional Experience
Instructional Designer & College Instructor 2020 – present
Developing instruction and being a college professor are both challenging and rewarding experiences. One of the most critical aspects of developing instruction is ensuring it’s aligned with the course’s learning outcomes and learning to carefully consider the skills and knowledge that students should acquire by the end of the course and then design activities and assessments that will help students achieve those outcomes in an essential skill that can make the difference between training that provides knowledge and training that improves performance.
Program Manager & Training Manager, 1991 – 2020
I joined the Marine Corps to see the world and spent the next 29 years traveling the world. I quickly realized that training made the difference between success and failure in a mission. I learned to develop my in-person instructor skills and create training plans that would help other instructors provide high-quality training. Later in my Marine Corps years, I learned to create, initiate, and audit training plans organization-wide. I also became a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute during my time in the Marine Corps.

Personal
My wife and I were married in beautiful Okinawa, Japan, in 2003 and have lived in all four corners of the globe since then. We have one son who is a straight-A student and a couple of Labradoodles that like to keep us on our toes. When I have a little downtime, I play guitar; my favorites are the old-time acoustic blues players.
